Mission: Pipe Relining – Repairing Without Replacing

Pipe relining is a revolutionary method that repairs damaged pipes from within, creating a durable new lining that restores functionality and prevents future leaks. This technology is ideal for pipes that are cracked, corroded, or otherwise compromised. By using relining instead of replacement, Plumbing Plus saves you time, mess, and money, all while delivering a reliable repair that lasts.

Our Pipe Relining Services Include:

  • Trenchless Pipe Repair: Our team relines pipes without the need for extensive digging, preserving your landscaping, floors, and walls.
  • Epoxy Resin Lining: We use high-quality epoxy resin that coats the interior of the pipe, sealing cracks, leaks, and weak spots to create a strong, durable new lining.
  • Precision Camera Inspections: Using specialized cameras, we inspect the damaged pipe thoroughly to ensure accurate relining, tailored to the pipe’s exact condition.
  • Long-Lasting Results: Our pipe relining process is designed to last for decades, providing a smooth, strong lining that resists corrosion, leaks, and blockages.

With Plumbing Plus, you’re getting a top gun solution to pipe damage—fast, clean, and effective without the disruption of traditional pipe replacement.

How Pipe Relining Works – The Technology Behind the Solution

Pipe relining works by applying a new lining inside your existing pipe, essentially creating a “pipe within a pipe.” Here’s how our Plumbing Plus team completes the relining process:

  1. Initial Inspection: We start with a video inspection to assess the damage and determine the best relining approach.
  2. Pipe Cleaning: We use hydro jetting or other cleaning methods to clear debris, buildup, and corrosion from the pipe.
  3. Epoxy Application: Our team applies a specialized epoxy liner inside the pipe, which hardens and forms a new pipe wall.
  4. Final Inspection: Once the lining has cured, we conduct a final inspection to ensure the repair is complete and the pipe is fully functional.

By using relining technology, we can repair pipes with minimal disruption, providing a fast and durable solution that maintains your property’s integrity.

Benefits of Pipe Relining – Efficiency, Durability, and Minimal Disruption

Pipe relining is a smart choice for homeowners who want to avoid the time and expense of traditional pipe replacement. Here’s why Plumbing Plus recommends relining over replacement whenever possible:

  • Minimal Disruption: No digging, no mess. Relining keeps your yard, floors, and walls intact.
  • Cost-Effective: Relining can be more affordable than full replacement, especially for buried or hard-to-reach pipes.
  • Long-Lasting: Our epoxy resin liners are durable and corrosion-resistant, extending the life of your pipe system.
  • Environmentally Friendly: Relining reduces waste by repairing existing pipes instead of removing and discarding them.

With Plumbing Plus, you’re choosing an innovative, effective solution that keeps your home’s plumbing in top shape with minimal impact on your daily life.

Just like homes have evolved over time, the way homebuilders construct sewer pipes has undergone many changes in the past thirty years. Up until 1980, clay pipes were the norm. Not only is clay cost-effective, but it is environmentally friendly and reliable. After 1980, most homes were built with polyvinyl chloride pipes, which were designed to last over a hundred years. However, life doesn’t always go as planned, and this is true for the longevity of our pipes as well.

Understanding the Pipe Relining Process

1. Inspection and Diagnosis:

The first step involves a thorough inspection of the damaged pipes. Professionals use specialized cameras to conduct a CCTV pipe inspection. This allows them to determine the exact location and extent of the damage, assess the pipe's interior conditions, and plan the relining process accurately.

2. Cleaning and Preparation:

Before relining can begin, the existing pipes must be cleaned and cleared of any obstructions, residues, or roots. High-pressure water jetting is often used to remove debris and ensure the pipe is prepped for the liner installation.

3. Measuring and Cutting the Liner:

Based on the inspection data, a custom liner is prepared. This liner is typically made from a flexible textile impregnated with a resin mixture. It's cut to the precise length required to repair the damaged section of pipe.

4. Impregnation and Inversion:

The cut liner is then impregnated with a specific resin, chosen based on the pipe material and the environment. The resin acts as a bonding agent and hardens to create a pipe within a pipe. The liner is then inverted using air or water pressure and inserted into the damaged pipe.

5. Curing the Resin:

Once the liner is in place, it needs to cure to form a solid, jointless new pipe. The curing process can be accelerated using hot water, UV light, or ambient cured depending on the resin type. This process can take several hours, after which the new lining will fully adhere to the old pipe, sealing all cracks and breaks.

6. Final Inspection and Quality Check:

After the resin has cured, another CCTV inspection is performed. This final check ensures that the liner has set correctly and that the pipe has been restored to its full functionality without any leaks or defects.

7. Reinstatement of Connections:

If any lateral connections were covered during the relining process, they would be robotically cut out to ensure proper service connections to the mainline.

Benefits of Pipe Relining

Less Intrusive: Unlike traditional methods, pipe relining does not require extensive digging, which means less disruption to your property and daily life.

Durable: The materials used in pipe relining are resistant to corrosion, abrasion, and have a long lifespan.

Quick: The process can often be completed in a day, depending on the extent of the damage and the length of pipe being relined.

Pipe relining is also called Cured In-Place Pipelining (CIPP). When we reline your pipes, our goal is to repair the pipes from the inside out. In order to accomplish this, we use a special resin that cures with time and strengthens the pipe. This works because we utilize a resin-saturated felt tube from a material like polyester or fiberglass and insert it into the damaged pipe.

Specifically, the steps of pipe relining include:

  • We closely check and inspect the pipes to gauge the level of damage using forced electron leak location (FELL) equipment.
  • We clean the blocked pipes and use high pressure water to create an ideal surface for the resin.
  • We closely examine the pipes again to make sure they are in an ideal state to be relined.
  • We measure the length of the lining and the extent of the damage.
  • We saturate the pipe with epoxy resin.
  • We begin the curing process and use UV radiation to allow the cured lining to harden.
  • We cut the junctions and inspection pits. This is the part of the pipe that distributes the flow.
  • We then assure that the pipes are functioning correctly and complete the final steps of examination.

If you have been having issues with your pipes, or they are around 40 years old, it’s probably time to get them inspected. If you have noticed any of the following problems in your home, your pipes are likely damaged and will need to be relined:

  • Persistent clogs in drains, showers, and toilets
  • Foul odors being emitted from drains
  • Low water pressure
  • Unusually high water bill
  • Water leaking around foundation
  • Rusty, brown pours form your faucets
  • Frequent water or sewage backup
  • A tree near the pipe that could damage it with its roots
  • Excessive gurgling toilet noises
  • Sludge in the bathtub
